it's been a VERY long time since i last blogged. many a years ago, i used to blog EVERDAY. sometimes even twice a day. so here's what's new with me:
it is my fifth and final year as an undergrad. my life is so different now from how it was just two years ago, or even one year ago. my friends at school talk about going to parties, clubs, and bars. it's been a while since i've done ANY of this. my life is so different from the weekly partying and show-going vanessa and i used to do. i'm glad that i experienced most of the things people talk about these days. even if it was a brief experience, i can say "i know what you mean" when people tell me abou their fun. i am currently applying to medical school. yeah, it's quite a scary thought. my free time is now spent writing personal statements and essays for all of my 50 schools. yes, i said 50. it is typical to apply to 15-30 schools if you are applying to MD schools, and 10-20 if you're applying to DO schools. Well, I'm applying to BOTH. i have just been very fortunate to have my parents support me financially because i know a few people who have had to stop applying mid-application because they ran out of money.
i don't see much of my closest friends anymore, but i know that they understand and support me. just as they know that i support them all the way. i barely see peter as well. we do see each other every day for 1-3 hours, but that's because we have microbiology together. he's busy with applications/volunteer/work as well and it really works out that we both have things going on. currently, i have class at 8:00 in the morning everyday. my breaks during the day are spent in research lab or work, and i see my parents and sister maybe once or twice a week. in the past few years, my fridays have been chill, or for the most part. but these days, i go from one thing to the next and my day does not end till about 8 PM.
i just realized, my life is HELLA boring (that's for you cliff).
by the way, i just bought a laptop and i've already filled it with my entire life. (well, if you consider music and med school applications my life these days.) i have just discovered what vanessa and chris have been talking about all these years with itunes and the capability of sharing music with others on the same network. my GOSH! music galore! what's amusing about viewing people's music library is that you will almost always find the KELLY CLARKSON album. hey, i do not make fun of that, i like her. all the other american idols aren't so great. i'm currently listening to a band i've never heard of, "her space holiday" from someone else's itunes. i'm liking it.
another part of my life involves volunteering at Hoag and being involved with the leadership team. i am currently working in the OR and it is pretty neat. so far, some of what i've seen: brain explorative surgery, lap appy (which is a less invasive procedure using microscopes) for the removal of the gallbladder and appendix. i also saw a 5 year old girl with an arm fracture. poor thing. the doctor wanted to go hunt down all the monkey bars and destroy them.
so, this has been the highlight of my life. fun huh?
