Saturday, September 07, 2002 i was having trouble deciding what to write here, and what to write in the email. so anyways, here's an account (a short account) of the show last night:we got to the venue at 7 and john was hungry and he had already spotted a carl's jr. so we all decided to go eat. i had trouble deciding what to get because i don't often go to carl's jr and i wan't familiar with the menu. i wanted something good, yet cheap. so what did i do? i asked john. hahaha. he told me he got the crispy chicken for $.99. score! perfect. we went into the venue and there were just tons of liitle high schoolers. the venue was big, it was just a big dark room with a stage. nothing too special. the opening bands sucked! we ended up just sitting on the benches on the side and falling asleep. we went outside in between the sets and john was saying how there were so many little jr. highers. some girl standing nearby was like, we all aren't in jr high! hahah, oh that girl was in trouble now. john asked, so what grade are you in? and she was like "i'm a jr." hahaha, we just laughed. wow, "you're so old". then we said we were 15 and john was 16. he was the one who drove. and i was like, thank you john for driving us!! oh man. then john was like, i just want to touch robert, don't you? just grab a chunk of his hair. you girl want a piece? c'mon, i'll lift you up and you grab it and give me half. then we can sell it. hahah, it was funny, don't worry, john wasn't too cruel with the girls, just amusing us. gosh, i think we were the oldest ones there. well john was fo sho. rooney finally came on and they played sha sha shakin first. man, i just kept thinking about you and how when you would sing it, you'd do your shake and wiggle like robert does. damn. anyways, they ended the set with sorry sorry those are the only 2 songs i know. oh it was so funny, we were standing around and nick jokingly punched christine, then christine punced jennifer. then jennifer was about to punch christine back again, so she swung her arm back and umm...hit nick right there. yeah, right there. it was soooo funny. dude. after rooney played we were leaving and we thought maybe we could find robert so he could sign something. he was in the band room and there were blinds, but we kind of saw them. john went up to the window and pressed himself against it and said he wanted to hug robert. hahaaha. some girls starting talking to us or him (they were young and aparently stoned or said they were stoned) they were saying how they were waiting (outside) for robert and they wanted to party with robert. hahah. after that, matt from rooney came out and john asked him something and that just started a whole conversation with matt. they started talking about andrew w.k. too. hahah. oh and the guy doing the sound check at the hob for rooney, (and yesterday) that we thought looked like the guy from waking hours is from waking hours. cool cool. after we went to the beach. and we watched the seals come out and sleep. yeh, pretty interesting and smelly. there's a small jetty like thing that they put railings on the side. so when you walk on the jetty, or run, you have to watch out for the waves. you have to time it correctly and wait to run across right after the waves crash against the side. if not, you'd get all wet. you get what i'm saying? that was fun running across and trying to time it. nick and jennifer kind of got wet. they were slow and didn't know how to run back and then wait for it and then run across. dude, you don't know how hard it was for me to recollect what we did and what happened yesterday. i'm sure i'm still missing a bunch of things. but for now, it'll do. that's it for now, i gotta get offline because my family has been complaining that i've been holding up the phone line. i probably should've written this on my comp and then posted it up. hey vanessa, so i was reading your blog and, (with sarcasm) i love how you tell us exactly what you want. haha, but do you really think i'd try and do all that for you?!? do you think i'd try and get merch and get their set list just for you?!?!....yeeesss.....hahah, but i'm not telling you what i got or if i did in fact get anything at all. hmmm...it's a secret. you'll have to see when you get back! ooh, the suspense, the excitement. i didn't get a chance to call up Thy for the Rooney show. but i did, i did (really i did) call her up and left a message to tell her about the melee show next week, on the 14th!!!! there were so many times when i thought of calling her but i just didn't get the chance! i'm way ahead of you again vanessa! (like when i sent you the pics before you reminded me to!) Friday, September 06, 2002 i've finished answering all the questions on the left of my blog. read it if you have time. but if not don't worry about it, it was my way of wasting time and procrastinating all the reading i have to do ooh, i know a secret. i wasn't suppose to say a word, but i told one person and i'm trusting she won't say a word either. it's a secret that only us nerds and power pop geeks would find exciting. hehehe.I should be studying but i'm too lazy. Thursday, September 05, 2002 i'm suppose to be studying for my history quiz...but i'm talking to vanessa!!!! online!!! wow, it's so nice to talk to her again. even online. so worth not reading my history stuff. vanessa!!!! where are you?? i see you on my aim list!!! nessa you online?i'm suppose to be readying/studying right now. history sucks. i haven't laid on my bed the correct way in the last 3 days. i've fallen asleep laying across the bed. i'm starting to feel like vanessa because i have so much stuff on my bed that i don't even move anymore when it's bedtime. heheehe. how's school going for me everyone seems to ask? hmm, school is alright. nothing new, but it's nice to have fullerton people to hang out with again. jenn is having a little party this friday and they are going to hang out at her place then go check out some artwork from an artist who works with paul frank and then they are going to go to the hub and watch alex from astoria do his own thing (now that astoria is no more) and also a guy from limbeck is doing something. [wow, what an emo thing to do, go see artwork and then go hear music at the hub. the hub is emo. what an emo night, well, hmm, maybe not emo, but very...i can't put my finger on the word right now....but it all seems very cool. i would have loved to go. next time.....rooney show is more important. hehehee.] don't ever ask my dad to go grocery shopping. we asked him to get cereal for us...he came home with 11 boxes!! 11!!! what the heck?!? we are set for the rest of the year. dude! did anyone watch american idols last night! it was cool. kelly won! she is really good. and that show was pretty good too. it wasn't another crappy making a band kind of thing. the 10 finalists came back and performed together and i must admit, it was a good show. i went to school today, then i went to the chiropractors and there i bumped into john!! how nice! it's only been a week, but it was so nice to see him. i gave him some pictures that i just happened to grab this morning, not really thinking that i'd bump into him. we "hung around bolsa." hahaha, that's so funny, hanging around bolsa. we managed to get some food with the 1 dollar coin he had and my few dollars. then we walked around phuc loc tho...hahah, us? walk and hang around phuc loc tho?!?! are you kidding? but yes we did and chatted a bit. we then parted ways and i went home to try to do my history reading. how's my reading going so far? not too well. Wednesday, September 04, 2002 oh so i was late to class again this morning. so basically, i've been late to my health science class everyday we've had class. not good, huh? i'm working on it. i'm trying to get the traffic situation down. i have to time it correctly. sometimes, i'll leave earlier, but still get there at the same time. i think i'll have to leave even earlier to beat the traffic.my mom just got off my computer. she was playing spider solitaire on my comp for about 3 hours. yeh, really, 3 hours. can you believe that? vanessa, you got the pictures already?!? wow, speedy postal service! it took about 4-5 days. not bad not bad. i'm glad you're enjoying the pictures. "my work here is done" <--i actually just heard them say that on tv. Tuesday, September 03, 2002 i'm at school right now on my break. i'm so bored. i was just putting lotion on my hands and arms and i noticed i have a lot of little nicks and scratches on my arm and hand. there are scabs, so that means it must've been bleeding. how could i not know till now? i think it's from the mcflurry machine at disney. because the thing spins to mix up the mcflurry and i always hit my hand or arm on it...ok, that was just random info that i'm writing about. i think i'm going to go underground and watch some tv now. hahah, cliff's finally writing in his blog again. funny. his list of where everyone is...."danny barkho"....i don't know who that is, but it reminds me of "danny darko." hehehe one more posting! sorry, i'm just listening to the vanessa's mp3's. everytime a song from the rushmore soundtrack comes on, it's so cool. it sounds so good. not because it's from the rushmore soundtrack. they just sound really cool. aww, and the hippos are so great. i wish i could play mp3's in my car. now i'm gonna have to make a cd...hmm... ok, good nite, finally? yes, finally. wow, in one sitting, i just posted like 7 times on my blog. if you look down at the times i posted. i posted once around 11Friends are like wedgies...They know your inner self. They're intimately close. And it feels great when you pick out a good one! FACTS OF LIFE [don't i wish these were true? wouldnt' that just make your day and make you feel so much better if these were true?] 1. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that their great. i just woke up from a nap...a 5 hour nap!!?! what the heck?! this warm weather is like a drug for me. it knocks me out cold. i think i could've slept till morning. i fell asleep at 6. i had to wake up to see if i could do some more reading. before taking my "nap", my sister and i had to clean all the blinds one by one. we were laboring on labor day. isn't that great. do you know how tedious cleaning blinds can be? we were sitting on the grass and it got to the point where we started singing songs. i wonder if our nicer neighbors heard us. my sister would sing the beginning line, and i'd try to finish it. hahah, she even started singing...."we're at the top of the world..." oh man, that just started me into singing that for a while. even when she started a new song, i'd go back and sing that. it was funny. it's just so gosh darn catchy and i actually know the words to it so it got stuck in my head. she didn't know what she was getting into when she started that song. oh i forgot. yesterday, i was talking to my older cousin who is 26? anyways, she's quite the partier? or she's quite independent. anyways, she was saying how she doesn't drink anymore. i was like good for you! that's good. why did you decide not to. she said she didn't decide, she just can't. and she said that she got really sick the last time and now her body just won't allow alcohol. i was like hey! me too! (although i'm younger and i'm not suppose to be drinking...oops) i was like wow, this is a real thing?! i was starting to wonder if i was just imagining and just creating an excuse not to drink. but it's true! i'm no the only one! wow, how interesting. i wonder what it's called if your body just doesn't allow alcohol anymore. interesting. my cousin has been dating black guys (or should i say african americans and be politically correct?) well anyways, for some odd reason, she just attracts them like crazy. i saw a picture of her latest boyfriend. he's pretty good looking. interesting. but anyways, my mom was just asking me today about her and her guys and my mom said how the family is really sad for her and how they look down on her. i was just like, wow. just because she's dating a black guy, that you're sad for her? the parents all look down on her and it seems like they look down on black people too. wow. i just don't even know where to start with that. i was going to go off, but i just let my mom say whatever. i guess i'm also just very protective of my cousins. i look up to my cousin and it's not like i'm going to follow in her footsteps, i just really look up to her. she's always looked out for me. so anyways, i just let that conversation with my mom drop. maybe their view on this is how vanessa and i view asian people. hahah, just kidding. we're not racist! [remember that korean girl at legends?] so the show yesterday was good. it was fun. the kiddies, i mean my little cousins had fun. i'm glad. they were all like, wow, you know them? because i was talking to guys and stuff. but the kiddies were like, oh my gosh, you know them? you're famous! are they on the radio? are they famous? they were all amazed. i was like no, sorry, they aren't on the radio, but you have their cd now so you can listen to them anytime! haha, i was like that emo kid holding little kid's hands and taking them to meet the band. hahah, but no, i didn't pick up on any guys. vince? i don't know. hahah. he was like, hey! it's theresa's little cousins! Monday, September 02, 2002 vanessa! don't worry about your pictures! i got it covered! you will get it any day now. i did not forget. i had both vanessa's and my blog open and i tottally did not recognize or realize that one was hers and one was mine. it took me a while. it threw me off, but i like it. it's a cool template. we're ttwins again!!! TODAY WAS SO FRICKEN' HOT. OH MY GOODNESS! WHAT THE HECK. IT HAS NEVER BEEN THIS HOT! NEVER! it felt like vietnam, except that you weren't all sticky.i have so much that i want to write about but i'm afraid once i get started, i'll forget what i'm writing. well here goes. this weekend, my cousins from up north came down to visit my grandma so we had our usual delightful get together of all the trans. usually when they come down, i always want to try to have things for them to do. especially my little cousins (who we call "kiddies") and who are growing up so fast! *sniff sniff. i don't know where to start. let me just start with this morning. i went to mass with my sister. [oh vanessa, another thing to do when you get back. come to my church to check out the teen mass and the "band"] after mass, we went to target where i found a lost boy. yes, that's right. we were walking out to my car, and i just noticed a car backing up and a little boy in the way. i ran over so that the car would see me. it didn't really occur to me that he was lost because their was a family walking nearby and i thought he was with them. but that family was getting into their car and they did not seem to be missing anyone. so i was trying to talk to the little boy and asked where his family or his mom was. he didn't answer, he was 4 or 5. i didn't really expect him to answer. but i asked him to take me to his mom, and he started walking back to the store. i then told one of the target employees near the door that he looked lost. and we were trying to find out his name. he backed up from us and we thought it was because he was afraid. he ran over to his dad and grabbed onto his leg. the dad didn't even realize that his son was outside the store and in the parking lot! he just got back in line! can you believe that!?!? even with all the kidnapping and missing children these days, the father didn't even pay any attention. jeez. exciting day no? oh yeh! i forgot. yesterday, i was driving home and my car ran out of gas. literally! it ran out of gas. it wouldn't run! my car just cruised along on the momentum and i steered my car to the side and luckily every so often, i was able to step on the gas pedal and it would accelerate a bit. it crawled up the jamboree exit ramp and i remembered that there was a gas station on birch and bristol, but bristol was a one way street. so i had to go all the way around. and as i was nearing, my car must've used every last drop because when i stopped at the lights (which just happened to turn yellow, then red as i crawled up to it) my car totally died. i had to wait and time it correctly to restart my car and drive to the next light. and once again had to stop because of the red light and restart my car because it died on me again. i luckily did make it to the gas station safely. whoo, wow, exhausting day. okay, back to today, after target i went over to my uncle's house on my mom's side to visit him. he isn't so well either. he lost a lot of weight and is really sick and i he has cancer. i say i think so because he doesn't want anyone to know and he only told my mom and a few other brothers and sisters. but he actually seems better than the last time i saw him. their house was in orange? i don't really know where they were located. just that you take magnolia all the way till you see brown and dry hills in front of you.it was sooooo hottt there!!!! oh my. after, went over to my grandma's house and visited her. yeah, she can't remember too well anymore. she has alzheimers along with everything else. she asks the same questions every 2 minutes. it's sad. but it's cool how my family can still laugh around her and joke how she acts "nho~ng nheu~" which is whining or being picky about what kind of water or juice we give her and how she's like a little kid. i dont' know, hard to explain, you have to be there. i was planning on taking all the cousins to see suburban legends if we had time and we did! it was great. they all enjoyed. the kiddies loved it and i'm so happy that they had a good time. an older cousin, who is 26? she thanked me for taking them and said she had fun and it was a great show. i am so happy. i'm glad i could do something or make an effort for them. i hadn't seen jennifer since wednesday so i had called her up a few times today, but couldn't reach her so i left a message. i missed her call and she said she was at the vsa banquet. i wonder how that went. i still feel like i'm missing something. so much went on these past few days. oh, we went to the beach yesterday. i t wasn't sunny at all. wished we could've gone today. that would have been refreshing. a while ago, before the cousins all departed, we took a bunch of pictures. imagine, what, 7 girls between the ages of 16-26, and 3 kids, piling on top of each other on a sofa for pictures. we hearded the couch because all the adults and kids were sitting there and we came over to the kids to get them in the picture too, and all the adults had to get up and get out of our way. i guess you have to be there too. but dude, there are so many of us it's kind of funny walking around downtown disney with a whole herd of the "tran clan" or the "tran train," as we like to call it. i'll write more later, i'm sleepy. i got maybe 5 to 6 hours of sleep last night and the night before i think i got 6? i'm not sure. i just know that that's not enough for so much activity going on during the day. that was like all the past weeks. the sleep that i did get did not balance out all the excitement and activity of those days. Sunday, September 01, 2002 WOW, was tonight an extremely long day and quite the memorable one. let me just skip to the exciting part. okay, so my friend (i don't really want to use names because you never know who will read this, but vanessa, you know who i'm talking about) called me up because they were having a house-warming party near my house. i had work till 11 so i decided to stop by and see his place. yeah, so the party was one of those, party hard party hard kinds. um let's just say i've never been to one of those, and it was quite interesting. i dont' know where to begin, but lets just say the cops had to break up the party. but you know what? it was quite interesting observing all those people in all their "glory". the people there reminded me exactly why i would never smoke out or even drink to that extreme with random people. i am so extremely grateful that i have been sheltered for so long and that i was not expose to this kind of partying tll now...cuz again i say, it was quite interesting. it sucks that he has to deal with this all the time. it is quite stressful. i stayed to help clean up and help him relax a bit. jeez, vanessa, you missed out. actually, it's probably better that you did miss all the "excitement". came home and i just had to write about this.okay, so the things that happened before all this. i woke up extremely early. i probably should have tried to sleep in some more. my cousins from up north came down to visit my grandma so we're having a get together this weekend. so i run to costco to pick up food for everyone. like pizza because we don't have food at home. they all came over and my little cousins wanted to go to the beach so we took them to the beach. hung out there, then they had to go home for church while i had to go to work. i'm glad i have the chance to spend time with my cousins. i'll see them tomorrow too. perfect timing too. i am able to spend time with friends and cousins, without having to worry and plan when i'd be able to spend time with them. does that make sense? everything just fallls into place and i can 'spread the love'...hahah, i'm so just kidding! i'm just really exhausted right now, but i just had to write all this down. ok, good nite. i feel like i'm missing something, but i'll think of it later and i'll write about it. |
