last week, on one of those really hot sunny days, i started thinking about where i was or what i was doing around this time last year. i think it was around the time when i first met jenn. it's pretty funny how we met and started hanging out. we were in the same class together. i always sat either 2 seats behind her or diagonally to her. but we never spoke a word to each other. i didn't speak to anyone. it was linguistics class. it was boring. i observed the people around me. jenn was the 'teacher's pet.' i think. he always called on her, and she would have really good answers because she took really good notes. i saw the limbeck sticker on her folder. she had a cast on her arm. i don't remember which arm. she had really cool shoes. then one day, about 8 weeks before finals, she walks in and says, "i don't want to be here. i want to go get ice cream. anyone wanna ditch with me?" i looked up from my papers and said, "let's go." and we were off.
we took jenn's car. when we walked up to it, i saw stickers on her back window. ozma, astoria, weezer, limbeck. woah, this girl is cool. i said, "hey, didn't astoria play at school a while ago?" she said, "yeah, the asian dude in the band is my boyfriend." i got in her car and looked at her massive cd collection. woah, this girl is cool.
we ditch several more times in the next couple of weeks. finals were nearing, but we didn't care. we ditch just enough to relieve us from the "semester blues." she invited me to a party one weekend and from then on, i've met so many nice, friendly, sweet people who have made fullerton so much cooler. word.
